Nine people were hospitalized Saturday following separate single-vehicle crashes in Makaha and Kailua.

Shortly after 3 p.m., the driver of a pickup truck collided with a pole near Jade Street and Farrington Highway.

A 19-year-old man who was riding in the bed and a 10-year-old girl seated in the back seat were seriously injured and were transported to a local trauma center.

The driver, a 16-year-old girl, a 28-year-old man seated in the front passenger seat and a 3-year-old boy in a car seat in the back of the cab all suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital.

At 5:42 p.m., another vehicle struck a utility pole on Oneawa Street in Kailua.

The four occupants — two 18-year-old men, a 20-year-old man and a 45-year-old man — were each transported in serious condition to a local trauma center.
